Meet Kisha Crofts

What made you want to get involved with HybridChart?

I wanted to get involved with HybridChart for so many reasons! We have a smart, dynamic team that’s always pleasure to work with and an excellent work culture where everyone’s voice is recognized. I was a paramedic and worked in several roles in a cardiology clinic before I came to HybridChart, and improving patient care is a passion of mine. I believe in the potential of HybridChart to make provider’s work lives easier and to improve patient care both during hospitalization and after discharge.

What is a common struggle you saw before people started using HybridChart?

Discharge management is definitely a struggle! That’s a problem with so many moving parts. In my time working in the clinic, I saw too many patients fall through the cracks because of a lack of communication. I love that HybridChart provides the means to make communication between different parts of the patient care team easy and efficient. HybridChart allows the provider to enter discharge instructions that the outpatient clinic can see immediately, so they are able to start scheduling follow ups right away. Likewise, once a follow up appointment is scheduled, the provider can immediately see that information and pass it on to the patient.

Kisha.jpgWhat is your favorite thing to do on the weekends?

I love spending time with my family! My husband and I have a five-year-old, and we love to play games and go visit the local duck pond.

What book are you reading right now?

Right now my reading habits are focused on my daughter, so we read a lot of Junie B. Jones and Frog and Toad.  I’m excited to introduce her to the Harry Potter series when she’s a little older.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

I live in a small town in northern New Mexico, and every year they put on a light parade for Christmas. Our extended family always enjoys bundling up and going to see the lights.

What is your favorite quote?

“Don’t be nervous, don’t be flustered, don’t be scared – be prepared!” – Tom Lehrer

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would love to visit Dubai. There are so many fun and interesting things to do and explore there!

What are some of the downsides you’ve seen when people still use a paper charge capture system?

Paper charge capture seems easier on the face of it, but it’s missing so many elements. It doesn’t provide for adequate communication or follow up management. The other piece that’s problematic is the potential for a HIPAA violation – it’s so easy to lose a piece of paper! Not to mention the time factor – how much time is being lost bringing those pieces of paper back to the billing office and then having the billers track down providers to interpret handwriting? I’ve done patient care on paper charts, and I can personally attest that my 3 AM handwriting leaves a lot to be desired!

What makes you excited about the future of HybridChart for healthcare providers?

HybridChart offers so much more than charge capture. For me, the potential of managing patient discharges, tracking metrics (like high risk patients), and offering easy, HIPAA compliant communication for the entire patient care team is so critical. It’s the “secret sauce” of HybridChart for me. Capturing charges is important, but helping patients is the reason we all got into this business in the first place. Being able to facilitate that is so important to me and our team!
